Where your data is stored
Everything you enter into Transplant Log is stored on your device only. Your health information never leaves your phone or computer. It is not sent to any server, cloud service, or third party.
This means your data is as private as it can be. The only way someone can see it is by using your device.
No account needed
Transplant Log doesn't require you to create an account, sign in, or enter any personal details like an email address. You just open it and start using it. There are no passwords to remember.
Works without internet
After the first time you open Transplant Log, it works even when you don't have an internet connection. You can log your health data, check your medications, and use the food safety guide — all without being online.
This is especially helpful if you're somewhere with poor signal, like in a hospital appointment or when travelling.
Backing up your data
Because your data lives only on your device, it's a good idea to save a backup from time to time. A backup is a file that contains all your Transplant Log data.
How to create a backup
- 1 Go to the Profile tab
- 2 Tap the Settings icon (the small cog at the top)
- 3 Tap Backup data
- 4 A file will be downloaded to your device. Keep it somewhere safe — like in your phone's files app, or email it to yourself.
When should I back up? It's a good habit to create a backup every month or two, or before you do anything that might affect your phone — like updating your phone software, clearing browser data, or getting a new device.
Restoring from a backup
If you need to load a backup — for example, on a new phone — here's how:
- 1 Open Transplant Log on the new device
- 2 Go to Profile → Settings
- 3 Tap Restore from backup
- 4 Choose the backup file you saved earlier
- 5 Confirm that you'd like to restore — and your data will be loaded
Restoring a backup will replace any data already in the app on that device.
What if I get a new phone?
Because your data is stored on your device, it won't automatically move to a new phone. But don't worry — as long as you've saved a backup, you can load it onto your new phone and pick up right where you left off.
The steps are: save a backup on your old phone, open Transplant Log on the new phone, and restore from the backup file. That's it.
Can anyone else see my data?
No. Your data is only visible on your device. No one else can see it — not us, not your medical team, and not anyone else — unless you choose to share it yourself.
The only way to share your data is by creating a report and sending it yourself, for example by printing it or emailing it to your team.
Things that could affect your data
Because your data lives on your device, there are a few situations where it could be lost:
- Clearing your browser data or history
- Uninstalling or removing the app from your home screen
- Resetting your phone to factory settings
- Losing or damaging your phone
This is why regular backups are so important. We can't recover your data if it's lost, because we never have a copy of it.
